"Should Be One of the World's Seven Wonders!!" 5 of 5 stars AUGUST 2016 No matter how many times I visit Cross Village and have lunch at Legs Inn I fall in love with the place all over again. The menu features many authentic Polish dishes, but there is also American cuisine - - something for everyone - and it is all delicious. From the front of the restaurant you think it won't be much on the inside, Don't walk away!! There is inside seating and a full bar, but the real treasure is out on the patio or, even better, on the grounds where tables are scattered about. The gardens are so beautiful, breathtakingly so. You not only have beautiful plants and flowers to view and enjoy, but there is a panoramic view of Lake Michigan. So many places for photo ops, and such a peaceful place to have a rest from you day's travels and just enjoy the beauty of creation. Once you visit, you will go back.

"Unique, Historic & Quirky" 5 of 5 stars AUGUST 2016 I was here for lunch on a Sunday. My brother suggested that I stop at this amazing Inn on Lake Michigan and he was right. The history is rich; including the founder's relationship with the Indians and his construction of the building. The Inn is made from driftwood, rocks, and the "legs" of old stoves. The food is Polish, which seemed authentic. What I loved the most was the woodsy-warm family feel of the interior and the lovely outdoor garden area. Located on Lake Michigan, I noticed the cool breeze. I spoke to one man, also traveling alone, who truly savored this place. This is a must-visit location and worth going out of your way to experience.

"Great American and Polish Food Served in a Beautiful Atmosphere" 5 of 5 stars AUGUST 2016 We found this nifty restaurant driving up the Tunnel of Trees Road. We stopped here and found a pleasant surprise. The restaurant is housed in a Polish highlander building that one finds in the Carpathian Mountains in southern Poland. We split the Polish platter and it was great. It was as if my mother was cooking in the kitchen. We also split a smoked white fish. Delicious! We had a little room for dessert and enjoyed a "sharlotka." A pound cake with fresh fruit baked in it. Mmm! If the weather is nice, ask for seating outside. You'll have a beautiful view of Lake Michigan. A definite stop!

"Better than Mom's" 5 of 5 stars JULY 2016 We go up north at least 2x a year and I've heard of this place, but never made it up there. I've heard they had the best pirogis but I had to try this for myself. We left the kids with the grandparents and made the 45 minute drive to Petosky. We waited about 15 minutes and sat outside. The view of the Lake was amazing. Our waitress was def Eastern European. My father in law said they import the Polish girls to waitress and that appears true. We tried the Tour of Poland and an extra appetizer of pirogis. Also had the berry dessert with a shot of cherry vodka. The waitress said it was good for my health. When she returned with my card after paying, she recognized my last name was Polish... Authentic!

"Worth the trip" 5 of 5 stars JULY 2016 We visit Legs every time we come up. Make sure to check the weather and try to go when it will be clear, the sunsets are amazing. On our most recent trip things weren't as we had expected, beyond our waitresses control, and the manager, Mark, made everything right to be sure the customer had the best experience. The food is great, just like grandma used to make. Truly a great experience.

"A must see! A must eat!" 5 of 5 stars JULY 2016 "The Legs Inn is definitely a must see. From the moment you see it from the street, you may think that's as good as it gets. But once you enter, you'll have a hard time not finding something new to look at. Everything is made of wood, many pieces hand carved, and the gardens that overlook Lake Michigan are enchanting! Wait for a seat outside. It's worth the wait. The food is amazing as well. It's all authentic Polish food; and if you're having a hard time deciding, get the sampler. It's a gorgeous venue, great service, and they make a great bloody mary, while offering a full bar, and wide selection of brews. It may be a drive, but it's worth it!"

"Always on our list when in the area" 5 of 5 stars JULY 2016 "Had a wonderful lunch with friends at the Legs Inn in Cross Village; I always stop in for lunch or dinner when I'm in the area. Great Polish food (especially love the potato pancakes) and the Bloody Mary's are fantastic. Sit outside - the view is georgous and the flowers are beautiful."

From Michigan Curiosities by Collen Burcar and Gene Taylor

"This is the one place where you actually hope there is a line to get in, so you can linger in the manicured gardens where the view over Lake Michigan is as close to heaven as you're likely to get on earth. Time it right and you'll catch a captivating sunset that's more than worth the wait. Or better yet, try to get one of the dining tables outside and then raise your glass in a 'Hail to Chief Smolak' Smacznego!"

Legs Inn is conveniently located near historic places: Harbor Springs, Petoskey, Mackinaw City, Cheboygan and at the end of famed scenic route M119 "Tunnel of Trees."

Located in historic Cross Village, Michigan, Legs Inn is a "monument to nature." Built on a high bluff overlooking Lake Michigan, it is unique and mysterious as seen in its architecture and decor. The fantasy-like atmosphere of this medieval looking stone, timber and driftwood landmark was created by one man, Polish immigrant, Stanley Smolak. He fell in love with Northern Michigan and its people, many of them Ottawa and Chippewa Indians and decided to settle in Cross Village in 1921.

A blend of Old World European and Indian cultures creates a memorable atmosphere. The entry foyer, tavern, game and dining rooms are all filled with an intriguing collection of nature and hand carved furniture -- whimsical creations made of tree stumps, twisted limbs and roots, driftwood sculptures and massive fieldstone fireplaces.

Authentic Polish cuisine is our specialty, but delicious American dishes, including local fresh Whitefish, are also served. The Smolak family and staff are dedicated to making your visit to Legs Inn an unforgettable experience, which will have you returning often with family and friends throughout the years.

Throughout the decades Legs Inn has become a famous family destination and restaurant. It has been acknowledged and praised by major magazines, TV broadcasters, newspapers, travel-related web sites, tour guides and guests from across the country and around the world. We look forward to your visit.
